I studied scriptwriting at university, which confirmed that I was much more interested in working on other people’s scripts than writing my own. That has remained a thread throughout my career, including during my years at UK distributor Soda Pictures (later Thunderbird Releasing), where I worked on the development of in-house productions and pre-buys.

For me, script development starts with understanding what the writer or director is trying to make. I’m not interested in imposing my own version of the film, but I will question, challenge and push the material where I think it can be stronger. I can also provide a consistent point of reference when notes are coming from different directions, helping the writer navigate conflicting feedback without losing sight of what they are trying to achieve.

I am originally from the UK and a native English speaker, but throughout my career I have gravitated towards non-English-language projects, as well as English-language projects by filmmakers working outside their first language. Having studied French and German and, since moving to Norway, Norwegian, I am particularly interested in how storytelling, dialogue and tone work across different languages and cultures.
